I’m starting off the year with my first author in the Hot Seat, Mika Lane. Ms. Lane’s books aren’t for the faint of heart! In her own words, “erotic romance is now what gives purpose to her days and nights.” And if you take a gander through her backlist, you’ll see that she delivers hot-blooded alpha males who skirt the lines of impropriety (reverse harems anyone?) and heroines who happily go along for the ride (I’m down!).
Well buckle in as I ask Mika a few questions!

ML – Sometimes I picture Mister Mika Lane when writing naughty scenes! He’s very handsome and very alpha.
KB – What heat level would you give A Player Romance series? What is your take on the lines which separate Romance, Steamy Romance and Erotic Romance?
ML – The Player series is very steamy, but not quite erotic romance, which is when sex is a bigger part of the story. Deciding is somewhat subjective.
KB – If you could cast one of your titles from the Player series, who would you choose to play your main characters? (Some have a huge cast, so say no more than five)
ML – Mister Fake Date is my favorite in this series, so I’d choose Liam Hemsworth as the main male character, Will, and Evan Rachel Wood as the female lead, Clover.
- Why? ( support your choice) Liam Hemsworth comes across as sexy but all boy-next-door and likeable. Evan Rachel Wood can play smart and sexy together.
- Write one line you would love for him/her to say from your book.
“Are you ready, baby? Are you ready for my cock?”
KB (Fanning myself) Do you have any vices that you turn to while you are writing (as in what candy / snack food / drink / 80’s hair band you break out in song too when you just cannot figure out the next line to write?
ML –When I need a break I might cruise Poshmark or Facebook, or put on a movie and knit for awhile. I try to stay away from food.
KB – What do you do when you’re not writing? (ie: What festive things do you do for fun? What things do you do when you make yourself have fun, and what is on the top of your list to do when you actually take two days for you (and family)
ML – I live in Northern California so the outdoor activities are amazing. I like to hike, ski, practice yoga, cook, and travel.
KB – During the zombie apocalypse, what fictional character would you want watching your back?
ML- Hanibal Lecter, because he’s so smart.
KB – If A Player series was a meal what would it be? Meat and potatoes? Vegetarian? A light nouveau cuisine?
ML – Oysters on the half shell with mignonette sauce.
KB- Create a drink to compliment this meal
ML – Negoni
