by Koko Brown October 17, 2011
written by Koko Brown October 17, 2011

The Copyright Alliance will be hosting a panel discussion and on the state of American media and culture businesses in the digital world on Thursday, November 3 in Washington, DC.

The panel will address topics raised in the new book Free Ride: How Digital Parasites are destroying the Culture Business, and How the Culture Business Can Fight Back.

According to the invite I recently received Free Ride is a crash course in the existential problems facing creators of various mediums, mainly pirates of ones art, and how the industry can get back on track.

The general public is invited to attend the discussion which will be held at 2226 Rayburn House Office Building from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3.

Interested in hearing about one author’s experiences with pirates and how she’s fighting back by outing them to the world?  Check out author Lena Matthew’s blog I Steal Books from Hardworking Authors! It’s an eye-opening project and worth checking out!

The Copyright Alliance is a non-profit, non-partisan educational organization dedicated to the value of copyright as an agent for creativity, jobs and growth. The Copyright Alliance believes that copyright law promotes creativity and job creation and strengthens the U.S. economy. Those who create, render, and publish copyrighted works rely on the copyright law and its enforcement, for their creative and financial success. Without it, these creators would likely cease to exist, or at the very least, cease to produce these important works that are enjoyed by billions of people around the world.
