Back in town and back to the old computadoro! I went to my alma mater’s homecoming this week-end and I actually survived the entire week-end without any internet!
Here is a snippet of To Dance with a Devil , which I’m currently working on.
“Well actually I won’t be learning the mambo after all…”
“What do you mean?” The Madame asked planting her hands on her hips.
“Well…I no longer have a partner-“
“You’re getting rid of me so soon?” A male voice interrupted. Macy whipped around to face him as she leaned against the french doors leading to Madame Veliko’s private studio.
A strange wooziness ran up and down Macy’s spine as her eyes fell on his handsome visage. And despite the warning bells going off in her head and the proverbial little devil whispering in her ear she knew she would not heed their warning for her body and her heart wanted whatever this man was willing to give her.
“N-no,” she stammered as he closed the distance between them not stopping until he practically towered over her.
“Good because I think we make good couple you and I.” He then stooped down until his lips were mere inches from the shell of her ear. His warm breath tickled the ultra-sensitive flesh of her temple. “Both in and out of bed.”
Macy’s toes curled at his innuendo. Thankfully, the Madame’s voice sliced through the sexual tension that suddenly filled the minute space between them. However it didn’t dispel the heat suddenly spotting her cheeks.
“So, are we on one accord now?” She asked from what seemed like another planet although it was just across the room.
Macy nodded her head, while Gideon took one of her hands in his own and pulled her to him. “Basic dancer’s pose?” He asked. Although it sounded more like a command, rather than a question.
Madame Veliko nodded her head in acquiescence. She then lifted her arm gracefully pointing the remote control at the stereo in the corner. As if by magic, the studio began to thump with Jennifer Lopez’s Let’s Get Loud. Rodrigo, her assistant, pealed himself from the stool he’d been sitting on and then sauntered across the room to take the Madame in his arms.
“There are four beats to the Mambo; however, on the first beat one remains still. The other three beats are quick…quick…slow.” The Madame enunciated, while she and Rodrigo demonstrated the steps.
“Quick…quick…slow.” She repeated.
“Looks easy enough.” Gideon mumbled as he faced her.
“You always say that,” Macy snorted. Although she had full faith in his abilities. It was her won skill that she had the least faith in. But like before, she would simply follow his lead and the rest would follow.
While they awkwardly followed the Madame’s direction, she continued. “The mambo has its roots in Cuba. It’s name is derived from the name of a Haitian voodoo priestess who was said to have been a soothsayer, healer, and even an exorcist-“
“Ouch!” Macy cried when Gideon suddenly stumbled, one of his feet landing on the top of her instep.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized drawing up short – his expression decidedly uneasy.
“Are you okay?”
“Y-y-yes, just a little distracted by the Madame’s history lesson.” He supplied rather lamely. He then stepped to the side to begin the dance again.
“You’re obviously not from New Orleans, if the tale of a voodoo priestess spooks a big guy like you. Then I have a lot to be worried about!” She joked in an effort to ease the tension she now felt in his body. She was rewarded with a smile, which slowly curved his full sensual lips. She let out a gush of air when he suddenly hauled her against him the swing of his hips leaving nothing to mystery.
“I’m not easily spooked,” he whispered. “But their were aspects of her story that definitely raised some hackles on the back of my neck, but I assure you, Macy, there is nothing to fear while in the safety of my arms.”

Nope, no release date yet…in fact, I finally finished it two days ago. I'm editing it as we speak then I will send off to my editor before the end of the week along with my Viking Story!
I like the excerpt, is there a released date and publisher for this one?
